Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Health and Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa says the ongoing medicine shortage is not due to financial problems but rather issues with procurement.

Speaking at a ceremony in the Ampara area, the Minister said the government is working to resolve these issues.

The Minister also visited Ampara Hospital yesterday, where he donated an ambulance worth Rs.25 million and a mobile clinic vehicle valued at Rs.35 million.

He also laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the hospital's internal roads and inspected the ongoing construction of the Eastern Province's cardiac catheterisation unit.
