Sri Lanka, July 25 -- 19 people, including nine women, sustained injuries and were hospitalised after a private bus crashed in the Weerawila area on the Matara - Tissa main road, according to the police.

A private bus travelling from Tissamaharama towards Matara collided with a motorcycle, broke through the fence of a nearby Pas Sampath institution, and hit a neem tree.

As a result, two people who arrived on the motorcycle suffered severe injuries, police stated.

After admitting the injured to the Tissamaharama Debarawewa Base Hospital, several individuals were transferred to the Hambantota District General Hospital, hospital sources stated.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Weerawila Police.
