Sri Lanka, July 25 -- Nearly Rs. 35,430,429 was spent on the maintenance and other related expenses of official presidential residences during the year 2025, according to a report by the National Audit Office.

The report states that three meetings took place across seven presidential residences during 2025, with 3,089 individuals staying at the locations.

An expenditure of Rs 32,982,675 was incurred for telephone, electricity, and other overall expenses for these seven residences.

No meetings or stays occurred at the presidential residences located in Kataragama, Mahiyanganaya, and Bentota; however, an overall cost of Rs 2,447,754 was spent on telephone, electricity, and other maintenance activities for those unused residences.
