Sri Lanka, Oct. 14 -- The lifting of the death penalty imposed on Anojan Sivarasa, who was sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia, was highlighted in a note posted by President Anura Kumara.

The note was shared via his X account.

Through that note, the President stated that this decision brings immense relief to Anojan, his family, as well as all Sri Lankans who followed this matter with deep anxiety and attention.

The President states that this demonstrates the value of patient diplomacy, respect shown towards the legal process of a friendly country, and the result of the relentless efforts of those who stood up for a Sri Lankan citizen abroad.
