Sri Lanka, July 17 -- A special meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and officials of the Department of Prisons, including jailors and regulators, was held this afternoon (17) at the Presidential Secretariat.

Attention was on the issues that emerged within the current prison system and the immediate measures to be taken to resolve them, the President's Media Division stated.

Special focus was on the incident at the Negombo prison which caused great controversy recently, and strict measures were discussed to prevent such incidents from repeating within the prison system.
