Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- The President's Fund has announced that it will grant a compensation of Rs.1 million to the families of each individual who lost their life in the bus accident on the Ella-Wellawaya main road.

The tragedy, which occurred last night (4), resulted in the deaths of 15 people, including the Tangalle Urban Council Secretary and 12 other members of the council's staff.

The bodies of the victims are to be handed over to their relatives today.

The Badulla District Secretary, Prabath Abeywardena, stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate the process.

He added that facilities have also been provided to those who were injured and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
