Sri Lanka, July 16 -- A discussion on the pre-budget plan and development orientation for the 2026 budget proposals was held today (16) at the Presidential Secretariat.

During the discussion, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake inquired about the current status of preparing the upcoming budget.

According to the President's Media Division, Ministry of Finance officials informed the President that the circular calling for budget proposals has been issued, and institutions have until July 31 to submit their budget estimates within the allocated expenditure limits.

The President emphasised the need to prioritise sectors crucial for uplifting the country from its current state when planning the next budget.
