Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The Postmaster General has announced that all leave for postal workers has been cancelled with immediate effect from August 17, with all employees ordered to report back to work immediately.

According to the official announcement, any employee on leave due to illness must submit a government medical certificate to confirm their condition.

The Postmaster General's notice also states that the Treasury has warned that it will not release funds for August 2025 salaries for officers who do not report to work without approved leave.

The announcement further warns that any officer who fails to report for duty will be considered to have 'vacated their post' under the provisions of Chapter XV of the procedural rules.
