Sri Lanka, Aug. 22 -- The Sri Lankan Postal Department has announced a firm 'no work, no pay' policy as the nationwide postal strike continues into its fifth day. The department has warned that any employee who does not report to work today, the 22nd of August, will be considered to have abandoned their position.

Deputy Postmaster General Chameesha de Silva confirmed that all striking workers were formally notified in writing yesterday regarding the serious consequences of their ongoing industrial action. This stern warning is supported by a directive from the Treasury, which has stated it will not release salary payments for any employee absent from duty today.
