Sri Lanka, Aug. 19 -- Postal unions have announced they will continue their strike indefinitely until their demands are met, leading to a standstill in postal services across the country.
As a result, nearly 1.5 million letters and parcels are currently stuck at the Central Mail Exchange.
The strike, which began two days ago, stems from 19 demands.
Key issues include instructions from the Director General of the department regarding overtime payments and a new directive that all officers in administrative and accounting offices must use a fingerprint scanner to record their attendance.
