Sri Lanka, Sept. 6 -- The government is taking steps to modernise the Postal Department to provide a faster, more reliable, and trustworthy service to the public.
This was announced by the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr Nalinda Jayatissa, at a foundation stone-laying ceremony for a new post office in Galewela on Thursday (4).
The new building, which replaces a dilapidated structure that was more than 50 years old, will cost approximately Rs. 14 million from a budget allocation.
The Minister said the government has allocated Rs. 250 million to address various shortcomings within the Postal Department.
He added that the government has decided to provide 20 cabs for mail transport, 1,500 tablet computers, and another 60 computers....
