Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- The Sri Lanka Police are preparing to establish a new unit, the Police Criminal Investigation on Derived Property (PCID), to investigate and seize assets acquired through criminal activities.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police for Western Province (North), Nishantha Soysa, the new division will operate under the recently passed law on properties derived from crime.
The PCID is expected to be inaugurated under the Inspector General of Police as part of the upcoming Police Day celebrations.
In the meantime, police have already seized assets worth an estimated Rs. 4.5 billion from organized criminals.
