Sri Lanka, March 2 -- A suspect was arrested by Buttala Police during an operation in the Yala National Park, where a firearm and cannabis valued at over 5 million rupees were seized.

Officers from the Buttala Police Station conducted a special raid in the Wandama area of the Yala National Park. During the operation, they discovered a well-maintained cannabis plantation containing approximately 13,500 plants.

Police state the value of the crop exceeds 5 million rupees. In addition to the narcotics, officers found a locally manufactured firearm in the suspect's possession.

The suspect, a resident of the Kuda Oya area, is to be produced before the Wellawaya Magistrate's Court. All confiscated cannabis plants were destroyed by fire, and ...
