Sri Lanka, May 31 -- A police constable was arrest by the South Kalutara Police for allegedly assaulting a security guard on night duty at the Kalutara District Forest Officer's Office.

The suspect, a 51-year-old police constable attached to the Thiniyawala Police Station, allegedly threw stones at the security guard on duty around 10:30 PM on the 29th, causing injuries.

Police initiated investigations and took the suspect into custody following a tip-off received by the 119 Police Emergency Hotline.

The victim, identified as H.A. Ratnapala, sustained injuries and was admitted to the Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital via the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulance service.
