Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- A constable at the Aluthgama Police station departed from duty after recording a formal note stating that continuous work without rest caused him severe mental distress.

Reports indicate the officer, a resident of Kekanadura, Matara, served in the crimes division of the Aluthgama Police. He made a specific entry in the station's information log yesterday (07), explaining that the lack of breaks led to a state of mental pressure that made further service impossible.
