Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- Sri Lanka Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway regarding former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake.

The probe is connected to the alleged approval of funds for a foreign trip taken by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Kalinga Jayasinghe, who is in charge of the Police Legal Division, made the statement during a special police media briefing today.

When asked by journalists whether Ekanayake was also slated for arrest, Jayasinghe stated that he could not comment as investigations are ongoing.
