Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya has announced that the government is considering revising the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed on books in the upcoming budget.

Speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 27th Colombo International Book Fair, organized by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers' Association at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall premises today (25), she stated that the President specifically instructed her to convey that a special revision regarding book taxes is anticipated through this budget.

She added that as an administration recognizing the value of books, the government fully understands the importance of such a change for the public.
