Sri Lanka, Oct. 13 -- A group of plantation workers from a Estate in Nanuoya staged a protest this morning (13) on the Thalawakale-Nuwara Eliya Road at Radella, demanding the reopening of the Nanuoya - Radella short-cut the only road segment in Sri Lanka closed to heavy vehicles due to a traffic accident.

Protestors stated that heavy vehicle traffic on this road segment was completely halted following a bus accident in January 2023.

This closure has caused severe hardship and various difficulties for approximately 3,500 people living in five estates.
