Sri Lanka, July 22 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has no mechanism to recognise or approve plantation companies accepting deposits from consumers and paying returns, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe stated.

Answering a question raised by Hiru News during the presentation of the monetary policy review, the governor mentioned that no Central Bank approval has been granted for such deposit-taking methods.

The Central Bank governor urged the public to refrain from investing money in such businesses, as accepting deposits in this manner is considered illegal.
