Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- A pilot project introducing a driver demerit points system for traffic offences starts today (01) and continues until March next year.

The Ministry of Digital Economy states that no actual deduction of points occurs during the pilot phase while drivers receive education on system operations, and points will be deducted based on violation severity.
