Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- The People's Struggle Alliance launched a city-to-city awareness campaign today in Kandy, titled "People's Mobilisation against the IMF's Death Trap, Indian Betrayal, and People's Oppression."

During the event, Duminda Nagamuwa, a member of the National Executive Council of the People's Struggle Alliance , addressed the crowd.

"The People's Struggle Alliance has been raising our voice against the anti-people programme of the International Monetary Fund. They are implementing a project that is gradually trapping our country in a debt crisis," he said. "On the other hand, India is slowly laying its nets, plundering our lands, ports, and energy sector."
