Passenger fined over bus windscreen damage
Sri Lanka, Oct. 4 -- A passenger travelling on a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus paid Rs. 18,000 for damage caused when a polythene bag thrown out of the window struck the main front windscreen on the driver's side of another SLTB bus coming from the opposite direction.
Hatton SLTB Depot Manager Palitha Weerasuriya stated that the incident took place while a couple was travelling from Hatton to Bogawantalawa with their child.
After the child vomited inside the bus, the father placed the vomit inside a polythene bag and threw it out of the window in the Norwood area.
The bag then hit the front driver-side glass of the oncoming bus.
Drivers of both buses prepared to go to the Norwood Police with the passenger to lodge a complaint.
