Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- The gas supply crisis became a focal point of debate in Parliament today (19), leading to a tense exchange between government and opposition members.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa questioned the current shortage, prompting a detailed response regarding supply stability.

Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe clarified that steps are being taken to bolster the supply.

He noted that while Litro Gas covers 82% of the market demand, Laugfs Gas services the remaining 18%.

To address the current surge, Litro Gas increased its daily output from the usual 1,000-1,200 metric tonnes to 1,500 metric tonnes, a measure set to continue through Saturday.
