Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health and Media Affairs has granted its approval for the orders published in the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2446/34 dated 21.07.2025, under the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Act.

These gazetted orders are scheduled to be taken up for debate and parliamentary approval on October 21.

The approval was granted at a recent meeting of the Committee, which was chaired by the Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, at the Parliament.

NMRA Chairman, Specialist Physician Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama, who attended the meeting, pointed out that under the NMRA Act No. 5 of 2015, the authority has the power to regulate the prices of medicines.
