Sri Lanka, Aug. 23 -- The Disaster Management Centre stated through a notice that drinking water was distributed to 72,153 individuals belonging to 23,048 families during the 24 hours that ended at 6:00 a.m. today (23).

It was reported that the Nachchaduwa Wewa in Anuradhapura also dried up due to the prevailing dry weather conditions.

Meanwhile, along with the prevailing dry weather, several chilli cultivations in the Pandiketuwa area of Anuradhapura faced destruction without water.

Residents also say that several watermelon and pumpkin cultivations in the Mawatawewa area of Thirappane face the threat of drying up.
