Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Police has reported that 642 individuals were arrested yesterday (9) as a part of a special crime and drug prevention operation launched across the island under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police.

The arrests were made after searching 27,094 people.

Those arrested include 19 individuals directly linked to crimes, 190 on warrants, 157 on open warrants, and 46 individuals for drunk driving.
