Sri Lanka, Oct. 4 -- A total of 5,000 houses constructed with government assistance are scheduled to be handed over to the public tomorrow (5 October) to mark World Habitat Day, according to Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply Dr. H.M. Susil Ranasinghe.

Addressing a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information, the Minister stated that this year's national World Habitat Day celebrations will take place under the theme "A Safe Home for All," with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya participating as the chief guest. In conjunction with the main event, a nationwide Habitat Week will also be conducted.
