Sri Lanka, Aug. 19 -- A total of 26,560 people were inspected during a special operation to curb drugs and organized crime yesterday (18).

According to reports, 11,053 vehicles and 8,444 motorcycles were also inspected.

Police say one illegal firearm was seized during the operation.

6,782 members of the Sri Lanka Police, the Police Special Task Force, and the three armed forces participated in the special search operation.

During the operation, 989 individuals were arrested for drug offenses, along with 18 people directly involved in crimes and 528 individuals with outstanding warrants.

During the operations carried out across the island, 674.959 grams of heroin, 193.116 grams of 'Ice' drug, and 52.714 kilograms of cannabis were seiz...
