Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- A total of 170 police officers have filed three separate Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions in the Supreme Court, alleging that their fundamental rights were violated during the recent promotion of 45 officers to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The petitions were filed by a group consisting of Chief Police Inspectors (CIs) and Police Inspectors (IPs).
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the members of the National Police Commission have been named as the primary respondents in the petitions.
