Opposition slams government over Negombo prison unrest
Sri Lanka, July 6 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa alleged that the tragic loss of life and injuries at Negombo prison stem from the collapse and inefficiency of the prison administration.
He recalls that the current President, while serving as an opposition member, once stated that the government must be held accountable for any loss of life within prisons.
Given the current casualties, Premadasa argues the current administration must now accept that same responsibility.
The opposition leader made these remarks during a special statement regarding the conflict.
