Sri Lanka, Aug. 9 -- The Government is attempting to suppress opposition political forces, civil organisations, voluntary groups and the Maha Sangha while moving the country towards an authoritarian system by breaking the promises made to the people, opposition Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa alleged.

Addressing a political gathering, the speaker stated that the Government is increasingly blaming the opposition, particularly himself, for issues arising within the country instead of addressing its own failures.
