Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- An ongoing postal workers' strike in Sri Lanka is causing a significant backlog of international mail at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
A large quantity of letters and parcels sent from various countries has piled up at the airport's Cargo Village as the nationwide strike, which began on Sunday (17), continues to disrupt postal operations.
The accumulation has raised concerns about delays in the delivery of essential documents and packages across the country.
The strike is based on 19 key demands from postal unions, including issues with overtime payments and opposition to a new fingerprint attendance system.
