Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- An incident involving a wild elephant and a small lorry was reported in Kekirawa, North Central Sri Lanka, earlier today (18).
Police said one person sustained injuries in the incident and has been admitted to the hospital.
The collision occurred along the elephant corridor between Kalawewa and Ritigala, at Shastrawelliya, Ihala Gama on the Kekirawa-Thalawa road.
According to police, a wild elephant attempting to cross the road was struck by a lorry travelling towards Thalawa from Kekirawa.
The impact caused the lorry to veer off the road and topple into a canal. No injuries to the elephant have been reported.
