Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- The Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Okkampitiya Police, who was arrested on bribery charges, has been further remanded until August 18. The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayatunga today (4).
The Bribery Commission informed the court that the officer was arrested following a complaint from a sand businessman in the Gaminipura area of Okkampitiya.
The OIC had allegedly demanded a monthly bribe of Rs. 50,000 to allow the businessman to operate his business without any issues.
The Bribery Commission said that the OIC was arrested while accepting Rs. 47,000 of the demanded amount.
