SriLanka, March 31 -- The Compass government turned the once-beautiful Colombo into an unsightly, foul-smelling city within less than a year and a half of taking power, claims Navajana Peramuna leader Sugiswara Bandara. He points out that the Pettah Floating Market and the Beira Lake area near Gangaramaya now emit a severe stench due to accumulated garbage and waste.

The New People's Front leader notes that authorities failed to remove large volumes of refuse in these areas, leading to environmental degradation. He expresses regret over the apparent lack of attention from both the Colombo Municipal Council and the current administration regarding this issue.
