Sri Lanka, July 24 -- The no confidence motion against Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara was defeated by a majority of 116 votes.

A total of 152 votes were cast against the no-confidence motion, while 36 votes were cast in favour.

Debate on this no-confidence motion presented by the Opposition commenced in Parliament this afternoon.

The Committee on Parliamentary Business, meeting on Wednesday, decided to hold the debate regarding no-confidence motion today.
