Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced today (20) that the government has decided to increase allowances for police officers and introduce a new uniform by June next year, with provisions to be included in the upcoming budget.

Addressing a public rally in Akuressa, Matara, held under the theme "Two Years of Government - Good for the Country", the President highlighted the challenging nature of police duties, noting that officers often work between 18 and 20 hours a day.
