Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- The Ministries of Transport and Education are planning to create new safety standards for vehicles that transport students daily and for school trips.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that this agreement was reached during a special meeting held yesterday (10) between the two ministries to establish a formal system for the transportation needs of school and university students.

The discussions also focused on several key issues, including the potential for adjusting bus and train schedules to align with the half-hour extension of the school day, which is part of the proposed 2026 educational reforms.
