Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- Sri Lanka's Ministry of Finance directed its efforts towards ensuring the takeover of the External Resources Department by the Public Debt Management Office, introducing formal legal channels of communication with bilateral offices, and enforcing new internal controls following a USD 2.5 million cyberfraud, Deputy Minister of Industries Chathuranga Abeysinghe informed Parliament.

The Ministry of Finance informed the Committee on Public Finance regarding these redress measures, including transferring External Resources Department functions to the Public Debt Management Office. Future interactions with embassy offices will move to formal, legal communication channels instead of relying on emails.
