New Navy Commander meets Prime Minister
Sri Lanka, July 16 -- Vice Admiral Damien Fernando, appointed as the 27th Navy Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, met Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya at Temple Trees today (16).
This marks the first official meeting between the new Navy Commander and the Prime Minister following his appointment to the post.
During the discussion, views were extensively exchanged regarding the unique role played by the Sri Lanka Navy to ensure national security and maritime security, the Prime Minister's Media Division stated.
Furthermore, attention focused between both parties on the importance of further strengthening the coordination existing among state institutions, as well as operating with mutual cooperation for national advancement.
