Sri Lanka, July 31 -- From tomorrow, August 1, all rear-seat passengers in light vehicles travelling on expressways in Sri Lanka must wear seatbelts.
The Ministry of Transport and Highways announced this new regulation, which aims to enhance road safety.
This rule will apply to all expressways across the island, including the Southern, Colombo-Katunayake, and Central expressways.
The Ministry further stated that legal action will be taken against drivers and passengers who do not comply with this regulation. Instructions regarding enforcement have been issued to the police and expressway authorities.
