Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- Sri Lanka's Police Headquarters has announced a key appointment following the arrest of a senior officer allegedly involved in a treasure hunting incident.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) G.N. de Soysa has been appointed by Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya to oversee the Colombo range, replacing DIG Udith Liyanage, who was taken into custody.
DIG Liyanage was arrested on Sunday (25) for reportedly providing assistance to an illegal treasure hunting operation allegedly involving his wife.
He had been transferred to Police Headquarters prior to his arrest by IGP Weerasooriya.
The investigation into the alleged incident remains ongoing.
