Sri Lanka, Oct. 26 -- The Sri Lanka Navy reports that it has successfully and safely rescued the crew of the Merchant Vessel (MV) INTEGRITY STAR, which was in distress and facing a life-threatening situation after its main engines failed in the deep sea approximately 100 nautical miles south of Sri Lanka.

The Navy confirmed that the crew was brought to the Hambantota Port today (26).

The Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Samudura was assigned to the rescue operation for the distressed merchant vessel.

The Navy stated that the 14 crew members, who are nationals of India, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, were safely rescued by the SLNS Samudura and subsequently brought to the Hambantota Port today (26)
