Sri Lanka, Sept. 24 -- A naval sailor who allegedly snatched a gold chain worth over Rs. 300,000 from a woman near the X-ray room of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has been remanded until October 8.

According to Anuradhapura Police, the victim was at the hospital yesterday (23) to get medicine for her sick mother when the incident occurred.

As the suspect ran away after stealing the chain, he was caught by police officers in civil attire and members of the public who were at the hospital and then handed over to the hospital police.

The suspect was remanded after being produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court.
