Sri Lanka, Oct. 11 -- A nurse attached to the Colombo National Hospital died after being run over by a bus in an incident in the Galthude area of Bandaragama yesterday, October 10.

The deceased was 59-year-old G. T. Ramani Premalatha, a mother of three who lived in Galthude, on the Bandaragama-Kalutara Road.

Police said the collision occurred at around 5.30 a.m. when she arrived at the bus stop in front of her home, as usual, to travel to work.

As she crossed the road to board an arriving bus, she came under its wheels.

She was initially taken to the Bandaragama Divisional Hospital and later transferred to Panadura Base Hospital for further treatment.

She died in the operating theatre.
