Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- 11 sacks containing heroin and 'ICE' were discovered aboard a local multi-day fishing vessel.

The Navy confirmed that the Police Narcotic Bureau verified the contents after the vessel was brought to Dikowita fishing harbour this morning (24).

Authorities intercepted the trawler in the deep seas south of Sri Lanka under suspicion of drug trafficking.

Five suspects were taken into custody alongside the vessel, which reportedly launched from the Gandara area for fishing activities.

The Navy handed over both the seized narcotics and the suspects to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
