Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- A three-wheeler caught fire this afternoon in Ambagamuwa, along the Nawalapitiya main road.

The blaze broke out at around 5:30pm while the vehicle was in motion, police said.

According to initial investigations, the fire was triggered by a sudden mechanical fault.

Residents, together with officers from the Ginigathhena Police, managed to extinguish the flames, though the three-wheeler suffered extensive damage.

Two passengers had been travelling in the vehicle at the time, but police confirmed that no one was injured.
