Sri Lanka, Feb. 9 -- Several mortar shells were found in a garden at Parakum Mawatha near the Kalutara Central Junction, according to Kalutara South Police.

The discovery occurred during development work on the private property.

Police authorities launched a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of the Special Task Force (STF) to examine the explosives.

Investigations continue to determine who brought the shells to the location and how they ended up buried in the garden.
