Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- Investigators from the Western North Crime Division have uncovered more details concerning the two containers of chemicals found in the Middeniya area, which are suspected to have been used to produce the illicit drug, 'ice' (crystal methamphetamine).

This follows the interrogation of suspect Sampath Manamperi.

Manamperi told Police that he took charge of the two containers on the instructions of the alleged underworld figure 'Backhoe Saman', while he was hiding overseas.

Manamperi claimed that 'Backhoe Saman' requested him via WhatsApp to accept the two containers, which were purportedly released from the port and which the alleged crime boss referred to as containing "some rocks".
