Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- A hunger strike has been launched by a Buddhist monk to protest the removal of security personnel assigned to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and to demand that security be reinstated for him and other former Presidents.
The fast was started by Theripahe Siridhamma Thera of Rathupaswala.
The monk began the hunger strike yesterday (08) afternoon in front of the D.S. Senanayake statue, located near the Carlton residence in Tangalle.
